?
I am doing this in the library and have not actually been in class (I don't do web) so let me know if can invite or join others blogs in the class but it isn't immediately clear... Nearly finished now... home straight. all in one day too.
layout
I've added a nice logo to my salmon blog and may continue to personalise it as time goes on. Some sponsors or links...
I changed the colour of my blog to a more feminine salmon colour (it's not pink). Had a shift with the layout too.
Recommendation
Local Studies: I think my local library, Lane Cove has reasonably good 2.0 technologies in place for the community. Lots of pictures available of the local area but if i had to offer any improvements I would recommend the sort of genealogy links at this library in Northern Ireland which allows people to navigate old records to find family members or other information or the availability of newspaper back issues would be excellent. In the case of Children’s 2.0 I think there are lots of ways in which Lane Cove library could be improved with the availability of online interactive children's books or online encyclopedias for children. Especially when you bear in mind how much more we rely on technology in the past twenty years even. The toddlers of today will be required to understand some technological stuff. And as with everything, if you are exposed to it from a young age it comes so much more naturally(follow the link for an example of this!)
Finally the Teenage/Youth 2.0. This is quite good but it is very focused on their studies and less so on reading for pleasure, which is to my mind as important. So possibly online comics or graphic novels. Like with the children, a lot of teenagers are very computer savvy so possibly social media would be the way to go here.

Evaluation
Local Studies:
Lane Cove Library has family history resources with census's and musters, as well as many lists to help people track down their ancestors. There is also pictures of 'The street where you live' in the past.
Children’s:
There isn't so much here but there are lists and numbers of schools and nurseries which would be very useful to parents just moved to the area. However it is certainly less comprehensive than the local studies 2.0
Teenage/Youth
For teenagers the online resources are quite good at Lane Cove with HSC resources and lots of them. Past exam papers and weblinks. Loads of useful stuff.

Community Profiles
I live in Lane Cove at the moment, so Lane Cove Council. They seem to have quite a strong community spirit. They're always having meet the neighbours days and carry on like that and the Library is very much an extension of this. They're always doing things for kids at the library and they also have lots of events for elderly people like computer literacy course. I would say the library is very representative of the community in this area.
Privacy
I only just changed my privacy settings from public to private. i don't really know why I did or hadn't before. Although I suppose it is very important I am still lax about it. If what the video says is true and 'they' can find out all about me from an anonymous photo, then I am already scuppered. Damn you big brother. Damn you!
Anyway computer privacy is important and we should all be better at it... upper and lowercase passwords with digits and intentional spelling mistakes and underscores...

Podcasts
Podcasts are an audio or video file designed to be used on a webpage or as downloadable content. If it was Triple J for example you would only be able to listen to their podcast online, i.e not on the radio. You can download them onto your phone or laptop and listen or view them as many times as you want
I am listening to a library podcast from the Seattle public library which is a live reading from the library by Peter Coyote. I reckon this is a great idea. It's a wee free mp3 and it has good sound quality. s'good

Social bookmarking
Book reviews in general I am a big fan of. Sometimes I can spend hours on Goodreads trying to find bad reviews for books you would think were universally loved.
I would not recommend that libraries should be doing this however as the comments sections on most websites/ social media are reserved for angry angry nutters and you would like to keep your libraries inclusive and not allow your clients to feel threatened or harassed
I'll Bet I Can Find 1,000,000 People Who Think Libraries Are Important
Libraries on social media seem to be overall a good idea. It would help libraries know what their clients need or want. On the other hand there are dangers to being on social media and libraries may be leaving themselves open to ridicule etc. Social media isn't going away though so why not...

Here is some bloke from my local newspaper at the library. Looking good Ian Alexander
The Librarian in Black
I remember going to see the Woman in Black play. It was awful scary like. The Librarian in Black is some pup and she has a very cool looking blog as well which is all ver different to Daniel Radcliffe's Woman in Black which was rubbish.
Library 2.0
Right so Library 2.0 was coined by Michael Casey on his blog LibraryCrunch as a take off of Web 2.0. It refers to all the new innovations and smart objects and fancified things that libraries can do to connect with their users. Bring Libraries and users together so they can interact and improve the library experience through social media and the like
